Founder and Chief Executive Officer – Nzola De Magalhães, M.S., Ph.D., HTL(ASCP)CM (Biomedical Engineering)
Dr. Nzola De Magalhães is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the department of Surgery at the University of California Irvine’s (UCI) School of Medicine, and a biomedical engineer and cancer research scientist with 22 years of biomedical research experience. Her research foundation is in medical photonics (photomedicine), biomedical imaging, and basic and translational cancer research. She also has expertise, with state certifications, in laser/electro-optics and immunohistotechnology. Prior to pursuing her graduate degrees, she worked professionally as a bench chemist at a nutraceutical company.
Clinical Advisor – David Imagawa, M.D., Ph.D., FACS (General Surgery, Pharmacology)
Dr. David Imagawa, the Chief of the Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Surgery at UCI and chair of the multidisciplinary liver and pancreas tumor board at the UC Irvine Medical Center (UCIMC), serves as a collaborator and senior advisor. Dr. Imagawa is an esteemed faculty and senior clinical investigator in the department of Surgery where Dr. De Magalhães is also a faculty. Dr. Imagawa has extensive clinical and research experience in liver and pancreatic cancers, experience in directing many multicenter clinical trials, and in developing technologies to improve healthcare.
Small Business and International Relations Advisor – Binti Reddix, A.A. (Physics, Education)
For 40 years, Ms. Reddix was as an English teacher and translator for the U.S. Embassy in Angola, the United Nations, the Angolan ministries of foreign trade and Industry, for oil companies like Texaco, Fina, Shell, Chevron, Exxon, Sonangol, British and Petroleum (BP), and for diamond companies like DE BEERS, Sodiam, and BHT Billiton. She was a small business owner and entrepreneur overseas for 30 years before retiring. She serves as a small business and financial advisor, as well as an international business strategist for Jsuru Therapeutix, Inc.
Marketing and Fundraiser Lead – Abel Alejandre, A.A. (Graphics and Digital Media)
Mr. Alejandre is a small business owner for over 10 years. He founded Seismicmark, Inc. to help companies with media, marketing and fundraising needs. He worked as a Production Artist, Illustrator, Designer, Art Director, Senior Creative Manager and Video Editor for various companies ranging from small businesses and startups to large corporations. At Jsuru Therapeutix, Inc. he develops branding content, implements marketing strategies, and he manages fundraising content and campaigns.
Bioinformatics and Data Science Lead – Ashwin Rohra, M.S. (Computer Science)
During his career spanning over 10 years in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT), Ashwin has led numerous initiatives around interoperability, compliance, security, application programming and analytics. As a Manager for Torrance Memorial Medical Center, he helped develop an information exchange platform for managing clinical data for over 500K patients across multiple care venues. He is currently working on developing a population health strategy to achieve better outcomes for patients with chronic conditions. He has previously built custom applications in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that are used by 4K clinicians.
STEAM Education Lead – Nzuji De Magalhães, M.S. (Fine Arts)
Ms. Nzuji De Magalhães is an African American and Angolan professional artist with 24 years of experience in studio and mixed media art. She has a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Southern California (USC). She presented mixed media works at the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, MOAD Museum in San Francisco, Box heart Gallery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Hammer Museum’s “Made in LA” Biennial exhibition. Moreover, she has eight pieces permanently displayed at the Bundy and Exposition Metro line in Santa Monica, California. She’s currently an adjunct faculty at the Los Angeles Harbor College, Cypress College, and at the Long Beach City College where she teaches fundamentals of art, drawing, and painting to a diverse student body from various socio-economical, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.
